Hi David, I'm happy that I made it back to Japan before you left. When I first saw you at Fujimidai station, I initially thought: What the .... are you living in Fujimidai as well now? As it turned out, you were living here, even though only for a few weeks.
It was nice to see that you kept on training on your own. I myself know that it can be hard at times. I hope you continue the good work and look forward to seeing you again next year. (hopefully I will still be in Japan at that time!)
See ya! Best, Kasper

Thanks for the kinds words Sensei. When I watch you move, it inspires me to train harder. I am amazed by the things you can do Sensei. I learned a lot from the few words you gave me Mike. Renshu... Thanks Adam. Don't get kung fu crazy when you are in NYC. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Fujimidai and I can't wait for my next visit.

I just wanted to thank Akuzawa Sensei and the Aunkai members for their hospitality and kindness. I really felt like a part of the family. The training was very intense but I had a blast. All the members were significantly stronger(using frame of course) then when I visited 1 1/2 years ago. Akuzawa Sensei likes to use the term "warm-up," which is very deceiving in more than one way. I come back to Seoul very humbled and know that I must train harder and wiser. They give me an outline of what I need to do for the next year. Again, thanks so much for welcoming me and I can't wait to see everyone next year.

Thanks for the kind words, Dave! It was good to have you back with us, even if for just a short while.
Take care in Seoul, and come back stronger yourself!

Hi David

Sensei spoke last night about the importance of mind, heart and spirit in our Bujutsu training. This was a very important point to me and had a very profound impact on my thinking of what I now have to do and how I need to change in order to move forward in my training and Bujutsu development.
I always make the excuses in my mind that my body is not ready, or it is too stiff, unconnected or lacking synchronisation to understand Bujutsu now. However I am forgetting about the spirit, without the right mind, heart and spirit I will never get anywhere in my training because I will be forever making excuses. I must develop the right mind, heat and spirit, if my spirit is correct my training will naturally follow and then naturally my body will follow and my Bujustu will develop. However if my spirit is not correct then I will fail, because I will always find a excuse about something to make.
Sensei also spoke about time and how little time each one of us have and that we will all die one day, so the time to work, train, create and develop is now. To not waste our time. This has got me thinking deeply about how I always make excuses and tell myself I will train harder tomorrow, but in my experience tomorrow never comes! I must learn to develop the ability to face the reality of myself and my life, as it is now today and train and think from a grounded reality!
Sensei's talk last night was very insightful and gave me a reminder that I must constantly look at myself and truly understand myself so that I will not be caught up in fantasy and ego. I constantly do and say things only for the defence and promotion of my ego. This is not the correct way for Bujutsu and it is the wrong path. I am very lucky to hear and be taught these things from Sensei and have the chance to catch their spirit, meaning and intention and to bring them into my life, training and search for the essence of Bujutsu.
